DAVIDE D’ELIA – EXPLORING THE PASSING OF TIME

David D’Elia is an Italian artist who, in 2013, with the Antivegetativa installation has transformed the ex Roman Elettrofonica in a bright green water hull of a vessel.

The installation takes its name from antifouling “Tiffany blue” paint, used for the hulls of old ships, and particular for the fact that eliminates all forms of life . Antivegetativa is composed by a chair, by a buoy and by nineteen paintings from old wine cellars, flea markets and antique shops of Rome. The paintings show seascapes, rocky landscapes, and images of “youth” of an era long forgotten by history. The chair on the other side is the conceptual site where time stands still, while the buoy is the emblem of the space limit is not exceeded. The paintings, academic style, the chair and the buoy were all immersed halfway into the thick paint “Tiffany blue”.

The result is a sour and unreal space, immersed in the depths of the material that erases everything, including space, time and life.

Davide D’Elia’s installation generates a reflection on a common history trait, that of things, and this gives rise to another rilfessione, much deeper, what remains beyond the end of the material world. Antivegetativa is an experiment on the passage of time.
