Light is time è un’istallazione nata dalla collaborazione tra l’estro creativo dell’architetto Tsuyoshi Tane di DGT Architects, studio di architettura parigino di fama internazionale, il Design Team di Citizen, noto brand di orologi, e Yutaka Endo di LUFTZUG, che si è occupato dell’illuminazione e del suono.
Essa è stata presentata per la prima volta a Milano, durante l’edizione del Salone del Mobile del 2014. L’istallazione si componeva di 80.000 “piastre di base”, il dispositivo strutturale che supporta tutti i componenti di un orologio, che fluttuano nel vuoto in un’unica stanza dalle pareti nere, come fossero scintillanti gocce di pioggia.
Dopo il grande successo a Milano, Ligh is time è stata di nuovo protagonista, nel 2014, al Spiral Building di Aoyama di Tokyo, evento che ha attratto più di 70.000 visitatori. Per questa occasione l’installazione è stata ampliata con una nuova rappresentazione site-specific del tempo.
Light is time is an installation born from the collaboration between the architect’s creative flair Tsuyoshi Tane of DGT Architects, the Parisian architectural firm of international reputation, the Citizen Design Team, known watch brand, and Yutaka Endo LUFTZUG, who handled the lighting and sound.
It was presented for the first time in Milan, during the edition of the. The installation consisted of 80,000 “main plates “, the structural device that supports all components of a watch, which fluctuate in a vacuum in one room with black walls, as if they were sparkling raindrops.
After the great success in Milan, Ligh is time was again the protagonist, in 2014, at the Tokyo Aoyama Spiral Building, an event that attracted more than 70,000 visitors. For this occasion, the installation has been expanded with a new site-specific representation of time.
Infine l’installazione è stata ripresentata in occasione dell’edizione 2016 del Salone del Mobile a Milano con il nome time is TIME. Per questo evento si è ripensato profondamente alla domanda “che cosa è il tempo?”
“ Il Tempo contiene molti momenti individuali, tra cui uno che noi chiamiamo “Adesso.” È impossibile fermare il tempo. Persone e oggetti invecchiano, ma il tempo è sempre nuovo. Si mantiene sempre in movimento. Continua a cambiare. Viene e va. Questa continua flusso di singoli momenti è quello che noi conosciamo come “TIME”. “time is TIME” è un’installazione sperimentale ed esperienziale che esplora l’idea del tempo. Utilizzando circa 120.000 piatti principali, sono stati creati due spazi principali: spazio A e spazio B. In questi spazi, i visitatori possono avere un’esperienza completamente nuova di tempo, sperimentando il tempo come un assoluto e tutto il resto come relativo. “time is TIME” è una sfida a introdurre nel XXI secolo una nuova visione di TEMPO.”
Finally the installation was presented at the 2016 edition of the Salone del Mobile in Milan with the name time is TIME. For this event has been profoundly rethought the question “what is the time?”
“Time contains many individual moments, including one we call “Now.” It is impossible to make time stand still. People and objects grow old, but time is always new. It always keeps moving. Keeps changing. It comes, and it goes. This ever changing flow of individual moments is what we know as “TIME”. “time is TIME” is an experimental and experiential installation exploring the idea of time. By using approximately 120.000 main plates, two main areas have been created: the space A and space B. In these areas, visitors can have a completely new experience of time, experiencing time as an absolute and everything else as a relative. “time is TIME” is a challenge in the 21st century to introduce a new vision of “TIME.”
L’installazione è stata premiata in due diverse categorie al Milan Design Award 2014, il Best Entertaining Award e il Best Sound Award, e con il Gold al London International Awards (LIA) nel 2015.
